The Department of School and Mass Education, Government of Odisha, has collaborated with UNICEF to launch a career portal for the students of Secondary and Higher Secondary classes. Each student will be issued a login ID and password for the website

With the help of the portal, the students can access information about different careers and interact with teachers. A mobile app has also been created for the ease of the students. It is available in the Odia language.

The portal has information about over 550 career paths, over 2,62,000 colleges and vocational institutes from within the state and the country. As many as 1,120 scholarships, fellowships and competitions and information about more than 1,150 entrance exams are also featured on the portal.

NDTV quoted Satyabrat Sahoo — Principal Secretary, School and Mass Education Department — as saying, “We hope that the career portal reaches all Secondary and Higher Secondary students with its services and information. The portal will enable adolescents to choose a career path in alignment with their aspirations and aptitudes and help to connect them with work opportunities.”

“This also provides opportunities to interact with great personalities, mentors from reputed professional and vocational institutes, enabling students to further understand potential learning and career opportunities,” he added.

Monica Nelson, the Chief of UNICEF Regional Office in Bhubaneswar, said, “UNICEF will provide all possible assistance to students who aspire to move in to professional services after studies.”
