Four Arrested For Listing PM Narendra Modi’s Varanasi Office “For Sale” On OLX
The Uttar Pradesh police arrested four people for allegedly listing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Varanasi office for “sale” online. The accused uploaded the picture of PM Modi’s “Jansampark Kaaryalay (public relations office)” and listed a price of Rs 7.5 crore on the OLX website.
“Yesterday, it came to our notice that the prime minister’s office here has been put up on sale on OLX website. An FIR was immediately lodged at the Bhelupur police station, and the matter is being investigated,” said Varanasi Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amit Pathak. The PR office is located in Jawahar Nagar and falls under the Bhelupur police station area, said Mr. Pathak.
“Four people involved in the case have been taken in custody,” he added. The person who clicked the picture and uploaded it on the website is also among them.
The case has been filed against the four accused and further legal proceedings are underway. The advertisement was removed from the website as soon as the matter came to the knowledge of the police.
Prime Minister Modi represents Varanasi in the Lok Sabha. He was first elected from Varanasi in 2014 and then re-elected in 2019.
