The Film Federation of India (FFI) has selected Malayalam film Jallikattu as India’s official entry for the Oscars this year. The Lijo Jose Pellissery-directed film, which was released last year, will compete in the Best International Feature Film category. Jallikattu received critical acclaim worldwide and screened at the Toronto International Film Festival and the Busan International Film Festival. Based on a traditional sport of bull taming, Jallikattu is a story of a butcher who loses control of the animal. Antony Varghese, Santhy Balachandran, Chemban Vinod Jose, Jaffar Idukki and Sabumon Abdusamad are among the actors that feature in the film.
