Odisha state tourism department has decided to host the second Eco Retreat Festival at Puri’s Ramachandi beach, starting on December 1, to help the tourism sector revive amid the coronavirus pandemic. State Tourism Department Director Sachin Ramachandra Jadhav has reviewed the preparation of the festival along with Puri Collector Balwant Singh. The festival is expected to host the tourists for three months.

As many as 50 luxury tent cottages will be made for the luxury accommodation of the tourists. There will be a restaurant and the fest will host a number of sports activities and cultural events for the entertainment of the tourists. However, the tourists from outside Odisha will not be allowed to attend the event due to the coronavirus scare.

Last year, a Eco Retreat Festival was organised in Konark. It featured glamorous camping and luxury cottages for the tourists, who could additionally enjoy delectable cuisines and activities like water sports, adventure, spa, nature trails and cultural events.

“We are bringing more value addition to the Eco Retreat Festival at Ramachandi this time. We need cooperation from one and all to make the event a grand success. I am quite sure that the event will certainly help to revive our livelihood and economy, which has been hit hard by Covid-19,” Singh said.

The Konark event last year had recorded the cottage occupancy of over 89 percent. As many as 4,000 tourists stayed in camps, while 5,000 visitors enjoyed the cultural events on an average daily basis during the two-month long event.
