French President Emmanuel Macron decided to tighten the security following the beheading of a woman in Nice on Thursday. Two more churchgoers were killed in the attack. Macron declared that “France is under attack” but the nation will not give up on its cultural values.

Macron has announced to increase the security deployments from 3,000 to 7,000 soldiers in and around the schools and religious premises. In the attack at the Notre Dame basilica, two women and a man died while several others left wounded.

“It’s very clear that it is France that is under attack. France will not give up on our values,” Macron said while addressing the nation after the tragedy.

“If we are attacked once again it is for the values which are ours: the freedom, for this possibility on our soil to believe freely and not to give in to any spirit of terror. I say it with great clarity once again today: we won’t surrender anything,” he added.

United States President Donald Trump joined in to condemn the attack on the country’s “oldest Ally”, calling it a “radical Islamic terrorist attack”.

“Our hearts are with the people of France. America stands with our oldest Ally in this fight. These Radical Islamic terrorist attacks must stop immediately. No country, France or otherwise can long put up with it!” Trump tweeted.
