Green Corridor Created in Bhubaneswar For Shifting of Critically-Ill Patient
A Green Corridor was created by the Commissionerate Police, which looks after the law and order in the metropolitan area of Bhubaneswar-Cuttack, for the shifting of a critically-ill patient. The patient, identified as Abhay Kumar Jena, was being treated at a private hospital in Nayapalli.
Jena was taken to the Bhubaneswar International Airport on ambulance, following which he was airlifted to Hyderabad.
Jena was tested positive for the COVID-19 but recovered completely. However, he had developed infections in lungs, for which an artificial lung was implanted in his body.
Odisha TV quoted a senior police saying that the patient was shifted in a dedicated ambulance, which dropped him to the airport in seven minutes.
“We had made provision to shift the patient from the hospital to airport. This was the fourth green corridor set up for shifting patients to hospitals outside the state from Bhubaneswar,” the police official said.
The ambulance was escorted by two police vehicles throughout the way from Nayapalli to the airport.
On October 17, another Green Corridor was created for the shifting of a critical patient from a Bhubaneswar hospital to the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA). An Air Ambulance then shifted him from Bhubaneswar to Chennai for an organ transplantation.
