US President Donald Trump, First Lady Melania to Quarantine After Top Aide Tests COVID-19 Positive
US President Donald Trump announced that he will quarantine himself along with wife Melania after his close aide Hope Hicks tested positive for coronavirus. Their samples have been taken for the test. Results are awaited.
“Hope Hicks, who has been working so hard without even taking a small break, has just tested positive for Covid 19. Terrible! The First Lady and I are waiting for our test results. In the meantime, we will begin our quarantine process!,” Trump tweeted.
Hicks, who is also a top adviser to Trump has been touring with him ahead of presidential polls. She accompanied the president on Marine One, the presidential helicopter, Air Force One first presidential debate and also to a rally in Minnesota on Wednesday.
According to the US media, Hicks was isolated after she was back from Minnesota. She showed mild symptoms and later on Thursday morning, her test result came as positive.
Earlier, a couple of other staff of the White House also tested positive including national security adviser Robert O’Brien and Katie Miller, Vice President Mike Pence’s press secretary.
It is not often that Trump wears a mask. He even belittled Joe Biden, Democratic presidential nominee, for covering his face.
So far, coronavirus has infected more than 7.2 million Americans, killing more than 200,000.
Trump is regularly tested for COVID-19. However, it is not clear how often. Those working in the White House also undergo COVID-19 test daily.
