Tesla Inc chief executive Elon Musk dropped a hint on Twitter that his car making company Tesla will enter the Indian market in 2021. “Next year for sure,” Musk said in reply to a fan club’s tweet that featured a picture of the t-shirt with the text: “India wants Tesla”.

“Thanks for waiting,” Musk said in another tweet.

The tweet that caught Musk’s attention was published by a Twitter handle named Tesla India Club. “Hey Elon, just thought we’d put this out here. We wait and hang on to hope wrt “hopefully soon” for India Tesla entry. Would love to hear of any progress in this regard,” the Tesla India Club’s tweet read.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was recently seen promoting the use as well as manufacturing of the electric vehicles in India.

The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has hit the country’s automobile sector the most of the car makers are seeking the support of government for sales maximisation.

Last year, Musk had responded to another Twitter user who had asked “What about India sir?”.

“Would love to be there this year. If not, definitely next!” Musk had tweeted in March 2019.

The United States electric car manufacturer has recently entered the Chinese market.
