Hathras Gang Rape: Rahul Gandhi Detained, Alleges UP Policemen Hit Him With Lathi
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was detained by Uttar Pradesh policemen on his way to meet the family of the Hathras gang rape victim, who died on Tuesday. He alleged that a group of policemen pushed and hit him with lathi when he was marching on the highway along with his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and some of his supporters.
“Why are you arresting me? What are the grounds for the arrest? Please tell the media,” Rahul can be heard telling the policemen in the viral videos on the internet.
The UP police has charged Rahul Gandhi with Section 188 for defying the ban on large gatherings.
In the videos, Rahul can be seen resisting policemen, before being pushed to the ground.
“Just now police pushed me, lathicharged me and threw me to the ground. I want to ask, can only Modi Ji walk in this country? Can’t a normal person walk? Our vehicle was stopped, so we started walking,” Rahul attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
On Tuesday, the 20-year-old rape victim died at a Delhi hospital. On September 14, she was raped by four upper-caste men from her village and had suffered several fractures.
