Veteran singer and music director SP Balasubrahmanyam died due to heart attack on Friday. He was 74 and had tested positive for coronavirus on August 5. He recovered from the deadly virus and tested negative on September 4. However, the health condition of Balasubrahmanyam continued to deteriorate and he remained in hospital. MGM Healthcare issued a statement following his demise, saying: “With profound grief, we regret to inform that he has passed away on September 25 at 1.04 pm”. Balasubrahmanyam is survived by his wife Savitri, son SPB Charan and daughter Pallavi. Recipient of six National Film Awards, Balasubrahmanyam was bestowed with the Padma Shri in 2001, followed by the Padma Bhushan in 2011.
