Narcotics Control Bureau Raids Rhea Chakraborty’s House a Week After Her Lawyer’s “Witch-Hunt” Remark
Rhea Chakraborty is facing charges of abatement to suicide in the death case of Sushant Singh Rajput. Last week, the actor’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde had called the investigation by agencies like the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Enforcement Directorate and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) a “witch-hunt”.
After the NCB arrested alleged drug dealer Zaid Vilatra and found his connection with Rhea’s brother, Showik, it sent a team to carry out searches at Rhea’s Mumbai residence on Friday.
The anti-drug body also conducted searches at the house of Sushant’s manager Samuel Miranda before taking him to the NCB office for further probe.
“Rhea has never consumed drugs in her life, and she is ready to undergo a blood test. She is being hounded and a witch-hunt is being carried out,” lawyer Maneshinde had said last week.
The officials of the NCB teams that begun the searches at 6:40 AM this morning, were quoted as saying: “the searches are being conducted under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985”.
According to a report published in NDTV, accused drug dealer Vilatra supplied cannabis to Showik and Miranda with the help of middleman Abdel Basit Parihar.
