The Odisha High Court has ordered all lower courts and tribunals across the state to resume their functions and court proceedings with the help of video conferencing. However, the courts that are located in the areas shut down by the administration to prevent coronavirus will remain suspended.

According to the HC directive, places where the internet connectivity is not good enough to hold video conferencing, proceedings will be allowed in the court premises. However, all persons present during the proceedings will have to abide by the COVID-19 norms issued by the state. Add to that, no lawyer can force a witness or accused to appear before the court unless approved by the judge.

The Odisha High Court, on the other hand, will continue to function through video conferencing as per the schedule.

Earlier, the High Court Registry had said in a notification that options like email, e-filing or drop box can be used to file new cases in the court of law.
