Barack Obama issued a scathing attack at Donald Trump, criticising the current US Presidency during his Democratic Convention speech. Calling the Trump Presidency a threat to democracy, Obama said: “Donald Trump hasn’t grown into the job because he can’t.”

“And the consequences of that failure are severe. 170,000 Americans dead. Millions of jobs gone while those at the top take in more than ever. Our worst impulses unleashed, our proud reputation around the world badly diminished, and our democratic institutions threatened like never before,” he added.

Obama’s live speech from the Museum of the American Revolution in Philadelphia soon caught Trump’s attention, who decided to respond with a series of angry tweets.

“HE SPIED ON MY CAMPAIGN, AND GOT CAUGHT! (sic),” Trump tweeted.

Trump was talking about his unproven claims that Obama planned the FBI investigation of Trump’s campaign in relation to the Russian sources in 2016.

“WHY DID HE REFUSE TO ENDORSE SLOW JOE UNTIL IT WAS ALL OVER, AND EVEN THEN WAS VERY LATE? WHY DID HE TRY TO GET HIM NOT TO RUN? (sic)” he asked in another tweet.

Obama kept distance from any endorsement during the primary race of the 2020 US elections.
