Rajya Sabha MP and former Samajwadi Party passed away at the age of 64 in Singapore on Saturday. In 2011, Singh had undergone a kidney transplant and was not keeping well since then. Before his sudden demise, he had paid tributes to Bal Gangadhar Tilak on his 100th death anniversary on Twitter. The late politician had also wished his followers on the festival of Eid.

Amar Singh had a wide network of contacts within the film industry and legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan was believed to be his close friend. Bachchan, who is currently being treated for coronavirus, took to Twitter to remember Singh.

Bachchan tweeted a picture of himself with his head bowed down symbolising grief on the death of the politician, who was earlier considered quite close to the Bachchan family.

“Struck with grief, bowed head, only prayers are left. Close life, close relationship, the soul is no more,” Bachchan wrote in his blog later.

Singh had said in a tweet in February that some conflict happened between the two families and he regrets his “overreaction”.

He had tweeted: “Today is my father’s death anniversary and I got a message for the same from Senior Bachchan ji. At this stage of life when I am fighting a battle of life and death I regret for my overreaction against Amit ji and family. God bless them all.”
