Odisha recorded the successful convalescent plasma therapy as the first patient recovered from the state on Friday. The State Health & Family Welfare Department broke the news on Twitter, adding the COVID-19 patient is a 48-year-old female from Cuttack.

“Happy to share that a 48-year old female patient of Cuttack who was the first patient of #Odisha treated with #PlasmaTherapy (at Ashwini Covid hospital) has recovered and is being discharged today,” the department said in a tweet.

A single unit of the B+ve plasma was transfused to the infected patient at the Ashwini COVID Hospital.

Odisha began the plasma collection with four convalescent donors at the SCB Medical College & Hospital. As many as 13 patients were treated with plasma therapy, most of whom showed quick recovery.

Convalescent plasma therapy has already shown great results in Delhi and Maharashtra.

The Odisha government is now appealing to the recovered patients to donate their plasma to help those who are currently fighting the COVID-19.
