Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik took to Twitter to request people that have recovered from the COVID-19 to donate plasma to help those who are currently fighting the deadly virus.

“Glad to see encouraging result from initial phases of #PlasmaTherapy which will help in expediting the recovery of critical #COVID19 patients. Appeal all those who have recovered from #COVID19 to donate plasma and help save precious lives,” Naveen Patnaik tweeted.

Convalescent plasma therapy has shown encouraging results in the state of Odisha.

Currently, six patients are under plasma therapy at two Covid-19 specialised hospitals. Four have shown incredible recovery while the condition of the other two patients is stable. The doctors have assured that the other two will be out of danger soon.

“Plasma therapy has brought a great relief to serious Covid patients in the state. Four patients are now not in need of oxygen support after the therapy. They will soon be discharged. The condition of other two patients are also stable,” said a health official said as quoted by The New Indian Express.

Odisha started the therapy with four doners, who donated eight units of plasma. The donated plasma is being used for the treatment of four patients at SUM Covid Hospital, Bhubaneswar, and two at Ashwini Covid Hospital, Cuttack.
