Sixty-eight Odia migrants are set to return home from Bahrain as part of the Vande Bharat Mission on Saturday. The special flight from the middle eastern country was carrying approximately 150 passengers, out of which 68 were the native of Odisha.

As per reports, Air India’s flight departed from Bahrain International Airport at 1:30 pm and will land Biju Patnaik International Airport, Bhubaneswar, at 10.20 pm tonight.

The special flight will land at Delhi Airport on its way to Odisha as some of the passengers will deboard at the national capital. The flight will then leave for Bhubaneswar.

This is not the first time when Odia migrants are being evacuated through a flight from Bahrain to Bhubaneswar. On June 20, a repatriation flight under the Vande Bharat Mission had successfully evacuated around 145 Odia migrants.

Earlier, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson, Anurag Srivastava said that as many as 637 international flights have been scheduled for the fourth phase of the Vande Bharat Mission.

“Phase 4 of Vande Bharat Mission is underway. Under this phase, 637 international flights have already been scheduled and these flights would service 29 airports in India. As on 8th July 2020, against a total number of 6,61,352 persons who registered their request with our Missions abroad for repatriation to India, over 5,80,000 have returned under this mission,” Srivastava had said.
