Odisha’s Cuttack will remain shut down until July 10 midnight, the city’s Municipal Corporation said on Wednesday. The Cuttack Municipal Corporation added that Cuttack will remain shut on the weekend following July 10, extending the lockdown to July 12.

“It is hereby ordered to shut down the entire Cuttack city (CMC area) till midnight of 10 July. Weekend shutdown restrictions will also apply to Cuttack city (CMC area) on July 11 and 12 as per previous order,” the Cuttack Municipal Corporation said in an order.

A report carried by ANI quoted Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange saying that all urban areas within the boundaries of Cuttack and five block headquarters of Ganjam will remain completely shut down from July 9 to 13.

However, the essential services will continue during the five-day shutdown.

Kulange added that the residents of all NACs, Hinjilicut municipality, all block headquarters and Berhampur Municipality will be screened during these five days.

Odisha has recorded 9,526 coronavirus cases till date, out of which 6,486 patients recovered while 38 succumbed to the deadly virus.
