Baisali Mohanty – the 25-year-old choreographer, author, columnist and policy analyst from Odisha’s Puri has been appointed as United Nations Policy Officer. The daughter of woman activist Manasi Pradhan took charge of the job on July 1.

In 2016, Baisali completed her Master’s Degree in International Studies from Oxford University and was bestowed with the prestigious High Profile Achievement Award during the course of her studies in the UK.

In 2018, Baisali started working with the UN as OIM Officer in its mission for Rohingyas at Cox’s Bazar in Bangladesh. During the mission, Baisali helped over 10 lakh Rohingya refugees in the world’s largest refugee camp at the Bangladesh-Myanmar border.

Earlier, she did her graduation from Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi University, after completing schooling from Blessed Sacrament High School in Puri and KIIT International School in Bhubaneswar.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik took to Twitter to extend his wishes to Baisali as she made the state proud again.

“Congratulate Baisali Mohanty on being appointed as United Nations Policy Officer. She joins an illustrious list of Indian women who are breaking many glass ceilings across the world. We wish her the best for her tenure. #SheLeads,” the Odisha CM tweeted.
