Bhubaneswar’s Dumduma Declared As COVID-19 Containment Zone
The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has declared the Dumduma region of the Odisha capital as a COVID-19 containment zone. The decision came after several coronavirus positive cases were detected in the Subash Nagar Basti of Dumduma. None of the residents of the Subash Nagar Basti had a travel history that could expose them to the deadly virus.
Municipal Commissioner, BMC, Prem Chandra Chaudhary passed the order on Friday, restricting the public from entering and going out of the containment zone to contain the spread of COVID-19 inside the Dumduma region.
Three areas within the boundary of Dumduma have been identified as the coronavirus hotspots. Here below is the list of the containment zones within the Dumduma region.
1. From Hanuman Mandir on the National Highway No 5 to Plot No 373 and Plot No 323, Dumduma, via Shani Temple.
2. From Plot No 373 and Plot No 323 to Plot No 261 and Plot No 258, Dumduma.
3. Plot No 261 and Plot No 258, Dumduma, to the NH 5 Hanuman Temple via Shani Temple and Dinabandhu Fair price shop.
With the BMC order in effect, all inhabitants will have to strictly remain at home and the shops shall remain closed. However, the BMC will ensure that there is no interruption in the supply of the daily essentials and medicines.
Both government and private institutions have been closed and the BMC has issued a helpline number — 1929 — for the residents of Dumduma.
